May 28-June 2, 2021

Meet and Greet on May 27 in Florence

Your reason for joining me in the Tuscany workshop may be to get inspired from breathing the ‘artistic air’! Tuscany is home to some of the most recognizable art and architecture – art that most of us were exposed to in high school, like Michelangelo’s ‘David’ statue and the famous works of Botticelli, “The Birth of Venus” and “Primavera.” Perhaps your reason for joining is to simply enjoy photographing the extraordinary countryside, with its mountain paths and rolling hills, all covered in a sea of green from the many vineyards and fields of wheat, painted with numerous pockets of red poppy fields and yellow mustard. And for sure you are joining this workshop with the intention of sampling the famous Tuscan cuisine and wine.

So much to see and do in Tuscany! The difficulty is really where to start and that is where I come in. I know Tuscany very well, so we will waste no time looking for photographic subjects! We will shoot with purpose, every day, beginning in Florence and moving south towards Sienna and Arezzo, Cortona, San Gimignano and Lucca.  Of course, you can count on shooting the famous cypress trees of San Quirico D’Orcia. This workshop will be filled with street photography, blue hour photography, astro-photography, landscape photography, sunrise/sunset, macro photography and people photography. Tuscany offers up a virtual smorgasbord of photographic potential and we will be there during the BEST time of year when the countryside is blooming, the air is fresh and clear and the tourist season has yet to begin.

We begin in Florence, lodging at the Hotel La Fortezza*, for two nights, May 28-30. We check out the morning of May 30 and for the next three nights, May 30 – June 2, we will be lodging at the San Gallo Park Hotel, near the town of Sienna.  We will check out the morning of June 2 and everyone will return to Florence by 12pm. As you will discover, most everything we will photograph is within 90-minutes of these hotels.

*The hotel in Florence is my recommendation but you are FREE to choose to stay in Florence at any hotel of your choosing. The hotel near Sienna is mandatory and all the more reason to book your room at the Hotel San Gallo right away.
