Join renowned photographer & author Bryan Peterson and Mike Shaw in this unique, four-day and four-night workshop in incredible Death Valley National Park. Timed to take place during the days of the new moon, you can be sure of the darkest skies possible in one of the best places on earth for both day & night photography. With only moderate temperatures expected in March, experience and photograph the surreal desert landscapes by day and Death Valley’s glittering starry skies by night. We will visit the incredible sand dunes of Mesquite Flat Sand Dunes, the sweeping badlands vistas from Zabriskie Point, the stunning salt crystals of Badwater Basin, surreal colors of Artist’s Palette and much more. Night subjects will include the early season Milky Way, star trails, waxing crescent moon, constellations, Jupiter, Venus and the International Space Station. Sleep optional!Mike’s bio:
Dr. Mike Shaw is an internationally acclaimed astrophotographer, speaker and the author of “Creative Nightscapes and Time-Lapses,” (2018) and “The Complete Guide to Landscape Astrophotography,” (2017). He is currently working on his third book, “The Beginner’s Guide to Astrophotography (2023).” In addition to his photography workshops and webinars, he offers interactive online lessons for Adobe Photoshop Lightroom, and helped create the video tutorials for the Planit Pro app. He taught Night Photography and Time-Lapses in the Bryan Peterson School of Photography for five years, led an interactive Nightscapes Star Party Live! weekly on Slooh.com for two years, and taught Night Photography and Photoshop classes at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum for four years. He licenses his work through Science Photo Library in London, and is a Delegate to the International Dark Sky Association.
