Africa is spoiled with natural attractions that offer some of the most sought-after travel adventures and photographic opportunities, and Tanzania is a country rich in heritage, abundant wildlife, acacia and baobab trees, and unspoiled landscapes.  Expect to experience the best of Tanzania’s “Northern Zone”, explore priceless wildebeest calving season around Lake Ndutu, visit “Big Cat Headquarters” and tick off “the Big 5” from your Bucket List.

We will see and photograph a wide array of animals on daily or twice daily game drives, including lions, zebra, giraffe, elephants, wildebeest, rhino, birds and more.  The Ndutu area of Tanzania is known for their big cats, so expect to see plentiful cheetah, leopards, serval cats and of course, the famous Hanging Lions.

If you have ever wanted to go on photographic safari, this workshop is your golden opportunity.  All you have to do it get yourself to Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) in Tanzania and we will do the rest.

February 6:  After a hearty breakfast at the hotel, we will take a tour of the town of Arusha and explore life in the town center of the Serengeti.  With Mt. Kilimanjaro and Mt. Meru looming in the distance, we will explore local villages, waterfalls and coffee growers, with photographic opportunities around every corner.

February 7:  After breakfast, we depart from the **Recommended Hotel in Arusha, Tanzania and drive to the main gate of Tarangire National Park, celebrated for its high concentration of elephants.  The game drive will concentrate around the Tarangire River, the main source of water in the park that draws giraffes, hippos, cape buffalo, zebras, wildebeest, lions and more.  For the birders in the group, you will have no shortage of flying subjects to photograph as Tanzania is home to more than 1200 species of birds.  We will have a picnic and bush lunch and lodge this evening at the Marera Valley Lodge.

February 8:  After breakfast, we will depart the lodge in search of calving wildebeest, zebras and gazelles, which are concentrated in the Ndutu area along the border of the Ngorongoro Crater and the Serengeti National Park.  We will have a picnic and bush lunch and eventually make our way to the Kontiki Migration Camp, where we will lodge for 2 nights.

February 9:  After breakfast, we will depart for a full day of exploration of the Ndutu area.  The wildlife in this area can be unforgiving, and nature takes its course as predators look to take advantage of the recently born young wildebeests, gazelles and zebras.  We will explore Lake Ndutu, which attracts a wide range of wildlife that stop to drink and cool off in the African sun.  After a picnic and bush lunch, we will continue searching for the best game viewing spots across Ndutu, and will be looking for elephants, wildebeest, zebra, antelopes and the crown jewel of Ndutu:  BIG CATS.  We will return that evening to Kontiki Migration Camp, where we will lodge for a second night.

February 10:  After breakfast, we will pack up and start an early morning game drive enroute to the northern parts of Ndutu, driving across the heart of the Serengeti, and our driver guides will be trying to spot elephants, eland, Thomson’s gazelles, and scavengers such as spotted hyenas and black backed jackals.  We will stop along the way for a picnic and bush lunch and expect to arrive in time for a sundowner at our accommodations for the night, Golden Serengeti Camp.

February 11:  After breakfast, we will again head out for an early morning game drive enroute to the Serengeti National Park, which is believed to house the highest concentration of wildlife in Africa.  The awe-inspiring Serengeti, famously known as Big Cats Headquarters, is an outstanding wildlife zone that one could spend weeks exploring.  We will make our way to the Seronera River in the Seronera Valley, which attracts thousands of animals from ungulates to the big predators.  This award-winning UNESCO World Heritage site will not disappoint.  In the evening, we will make our way to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and the Ngorongoro Ang’ata Camp, where we will lodge for the evening.

February 12:  After breakfast, we will depart early and take a safari game drive through the Ngorongoro Crater, the world’s largest inactive caldera.  This game drive will provide our best chance to spot the endangered and rare black rhino as we make our way back to Arusha.  Students can catch an international flight home or to their next destination as early as that evening or the following morning through Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO).

We will have a Meet and Greet on February 5 at 7:00 PM in the lobby of the **Recommended Hotel, where we discuss student goals and objectives, and Bryan will answer any questions about the workshop.
