2018 Workshops Schedule

What will you experience in a Bryan F Peterson Photography Workshop?

Whether you choose to participate in a two-day, five-day or a ten-day workshop, all of my workshops place the greatest emphasis on the following: Developing a vision, learning to ‘see’, composition, lens choice, point of view, as well as a full understanding of and knowing the clear difference between a correct exposure and a creatively correct exposure and the absolute ease of knowing when and where to call upon your portable flash. In addition questions such as where do you focus, where do you take your meter reading from, should you shoot RAW or JPEG, what White Balance should you use, why is a tripod necessary, when should you use those extreme ISO’s like 3200 or 6400, is your camera safe in the rain, when should you use the 10-stop ND filter, when should you use the 3-stop graduated filter and much more! We really do cover it all and on a personal and individual need basis!

From macro to telephoto, from wide-angle and fish-eye to the use of your flash, you will go home from each and every workshop with many great images and a feeling of tremendous satisfaction and most of all with the feeling that it really was money well spent! I take your enrollment in my workshops seriously and I promise that you will have a memorable and lasting learning experience! You are not here to watch me walk away from you while I go off and shoot on my own! My job is to be there with you while you shoot, to make suggestions on your lens choice and point of view, to make suggestions on your overall composition, to make suggestions on what exposure will be best. I am here most of all to help you return home with amazing images!

This single philosophy of helping you create amazing images is perhaps why more than 65% of my students have returned to take, on average, three additional workshops, after they take their first one. They really do have the much fun and they really do learn a great deal in the process! Below you can read just a small sampling comments from the many students who have taken a Bryan F Peterson Photo Workshop.

Bryan has authored ten books on photography in nine different languages, including the worldwide best seller “Understanding Exposure”.

Reservations/Payment

A deposit is required to hold your spot on all workshops offered. Your final payment of the “balance due" for every workshop must be paid on or before 60 days prior to the workshop's inception. We will send out reminder notices of your balance due a week before the 60-day mark.

Payment methods accepted: VISA, MASTERCARD, AMERICAN EXPRESS and PAYPAL.

Waiting List

When a workshop is full, you can e-mail me directly at bryanfpeterson2@me.com and ask Monique to put you on the wait list. If a spot becomes available, you will be contacted as soon as possible to be offered the spot!

Cancellation Policy

If you cancel 60 days or more prior to a workshop’s inception, you will receive a full refund of the deposit paid.

If you cancel 59 days or less prior to a workshop’s inception, no refund(s) will be issued. However:

  • If you have paid for the workshop(s) in full, every effort will be made to accommodate your request for a full credit towards another workshop with availability within 12 months of the date of cancellation.
  • If you have paid only a deposit, the deposit will be refunded only if we can fill the spot 30 days prior to the start of the workshop.

“Meet and Greets”

The evening before each workshop, we will meet at the designated location for approximately an hour or so to introduce and share a little bit about ourselves, get acquainted, what equipment we shoot with, workshop expectations and most importantly the proposed agenda for the coming days based on current weather and local events.

I look forward to working with you, re-connecting with old friends and making new ones!

This is a repeat of the sold out 2017 Myanmar workshop and I am offering it twice in 2018. The first offering is here in February and if you scroll down near the end of the workshop listings you find it being offered again in November.

Myanmar is well on its way to becoming the must see destination of Southeast Asia. Much like undiscovered Iceland of just 10 years ago, Myanmar is a true photographic feast with images to be taken at most every turn in the road;; hundreds of temples, people from all walks of life, the colorful markets, mountains, rice fields, brightly dressed monks, and smiles are everywhere. We will travel through Myanmar by plane, tuk-tuk or hired car depending on the location and the destination and much like India, we will travel towards the best possible shooting opportunities. Over the course of these ten amazing days, all four of the students will easily shoot 30 to 40 GB’s of images every day. Just like India, Myanmar is also just as colorful and incredible!

You will fly into Yangon, (formally Rangoon, Burma) where we will spend our first two days and it is here where we will have our initial meet and greet, February 3rd, Saturday evening at 7pm, in the lobby of the Best Western Chinatown Hotel.

You need to book your room at the Best Western Chinatown Hotel in Yangon for three nights, Feb 3rd, 4th and 5th. We will fly out the morning of Feb 6th to Nyaung-U, (Old Bangon area) where we will lodge for four nights, Feb 6th, 7th, 8th and 9th. The morning of the 10th we will check out and take a slow drive in our A/C Van from Bangon to Mandelay, arriving in Mandelay late in the afternoon where we will check into our hotel for the next four nights, Feb 10th, 11th,12th and 13th where we will have a final farwell dinner on the evening of the 13th. The next day you are free to fly from Mandelay to Yangon where you can then pick up your return flight home or make other plans of course.

If you’ve wanted to explore the once hidden and beautiful country of Myanmar and its many temples and its beautiful and colorful people, and in a teaching environment that is almost one on one, then this is your workshop.

All ground transportation, (private car or via tuks-tuks) is included in the workshop fee but you are responsible for your hotel and food costs as well as the RT airfare costs from Yangon to Nyanung-U and back to Yangon.

To facilitate your hotel bookings, go to either Expedia.com or Trivago.com and make your booking at the following hotels on the dates indicated below.

Four days in a city of magic, mystique and tradition. Wandering through the city’s many narrow, twisting alleys, one cannot help but wonder what happened in that very spot hundreds of years ago. Atmosphere abounds at every corner with colorful window gardens, villas, palaces, canals, gondolas, piazzas, and of course San Marco. The locals are some of the most friendly to be found anywhere. And let us not forget gelato! We will also venture for a day to the nearby island of Burano to capture its abundant splendor of colorful houses, one after the other providing an amazing array of photographic possibilities.

This is a repeat of the sold out Bhutan workshop in 2014 and 2016. You asked for it, you got it! Come join me with Bhutan photographer, Ugyen Wangchuck, as we take you on a magnificent journey across the Himalayan Kingdom of Bhutan during this most refreshing month of September. We will photograph the sacred temples and monasteries, festive events, incredible landscapes and vistas, the very charismatic people of Bhutan and gigantic fortresses a.k.a. Dzongs- all scattered amongst the lush Himalayan environment that feels as if you are lost in time!

This is truly a unique opportunity for any photographer who has ever longed to shoot in Bhutan where you will see and experience first hand the famous Tigers Nest Monestary. It is here in Bhutan, where the sun shines as bright as the smiles on everyone’s faces. Bhutan proudly claims that HAPPINESS is their number one export!

Ugyen Wangchuck is the only official photographer of Bhutan and is able to gain access to just about any location throughout the country. All workshop participants will meet me on the evening of September 13th at 7pm in the lobby of the Bangkok Airport Novotel Hotel for the “meet and greet”. The following morning everyone will fly out of Bangkok to Paro, Bhutan on Druk Airlines, where we will be greeted by Ugyen and whisked away in an air conditioned mini-bus to Wangdue, passing over Dochula pass. On our way to the Eco Village Lodge in the community of Nyshigaykha, we will stop for some shooting at Tagcho Temple, Simtokha Dzong and Dochula. That evening, over dinner, we will discuss a more specific shooting plan for the next six days since it will be dictated in part by the most favorable weather conditions.

We will all fly out of Bangkok the morning of September 14th at 6:50 AM, arriving Paro, Bhutan at 10:20am and unless you tell me you wish to make other plans, we will all be departing Paro back to Bangkok at 11:25am on September 21st.

The cost of this RT ticket, ($680.00) to and from Paro Bhutan, is included in the workshop fee of $4,295.00 .

*The Bhutan workshop fee DOES INCLUDE your meals, all ground transportation, and your hotel room in Bhutan for seven nights, September 14th through September 20th. This workshop requires a 50% deposit as well as a copy of your passport showing your photo and date of expiration. Send your passport copy to the following email: bryanfpeterson2@me.com.

On September 14th, after landing at the Paro Airport, you will be issued your Visa.
